Baho is Rwanda's trusted digital platform for health education, professional development, community, and opportunity. We built it around a single promise: your data is yours. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and how you can control it.
This policy applies to Baho Health Hub (education, quizzes, blog), Baho Profile (your public bio page), Baho Chat (messaging, groups, channels, and statuses), Baho Driving School, and Baho Finance tools.
Information We Collect
Account & Registration
When you register, we collect your full name, email address (used as your unique Baho ID), phone number, and the sections of Baho you're interested in. If you sign up for Driving School, we also collect your license category, role (student or instructor), and location (province, district, sector).
Profile & Bio
If you create a Baho Profile, we store only what you choose to add: your display name, photo, biography, social media links, content blocks (links, text, images, videos), theme preferences, and — if you offer a service — your category, pricing, availability, and location. You control which details are shown publicly through your profile's privacy toggles.
Baho Chat & Community
If you use Baho Chat, we store your messages in direct conversations, group posts and comments, channel activity, and your status updates (text, image, or video), which are automatically removed after 24 hours. We also record general activity timestamps so other members can see roughly when you were last active — never your exact location or session history.
Phone Contacts (Optional)
If you use "Sync Phone Contacts" in Baho Chat, we access your device contacts with your explicit permission, only to check which of your contacts already have a Baho account. We do not store your full contact list — only the matches are shown to you.
Usage & Technical
We use your browser's local storage to remember your login session and your language preferences. We do not currently operate visitor analytics or location-based tracking. If this changes, we'll update this page with a new effective date.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account, and verify eligibility for Health Hub or Driving School
- To display your public profile, bio, and service listings to other users and visitors
- To operate community features: messaging, groups, channels, statuses, posts, comments, and follows
- To let you connect with other members and contact admins for support or approval
- To communicate with you about your account, approvals, and access codes (via WhatsApp or email)
- To moderate content and enforce our community standards
- To comply with legal obligations under Rwandan law
Community Moderation
Baho Chat is a shared community space. Please know that:
- Messages sent in a group are visible to all members of that group. Group admins can remove messages that violate community standards.
- Comments on channel posts are visible to that channel's followers. Channel admins can remove comments.
- Group and channel admins can remove or restrict ("ban") a member who violates community standards, preventing them from rejoining that specific group or channel.
- Bio profiles not yet linked to a verified Baho account are marked Draft or Unverified so others can tell the content hasn't been confirmed.
Data Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and Firebase access-control rules that restrict who can read or write your data. However, no online platform can guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to keep your access code confidential and report any suspicious activity to us immediately.
Data Retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Approved Health Hub and Driving School access periods are valid for a set duration (currently 90 days) and are renewed by an administrator. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we're required by law to keep certain records.
Your Rights & Choices
You have the right to:
- Access, correct, or update your personal information at any time through your profile settings
- Choose exactly which parts of your bio (phone, email, tags, detailed address) are shown publicly
- Leave any group, unfollow any channel, or stop following and being followed by other members
- Request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account
- Object to how we process your information

Children's Privacy
Baho is intended for adult professionals, students, and members of the public capable of entering into an account relationship. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Cookies & Local Storage
We use your browser's local storage — not third-party tracking cookies — to keep you logged in and remember your language and display preferences. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings, though doing so will log you out.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our platform evolves. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date, and where changes are significant, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active members.

Nous l'avons construite autour d'une promesse : vos données vous appartiennent. Cette page explique exactement ce que nous collectons, pourquoi, et comment vous pouvez le contrôler.
Cette politique s'applique à Baho Health Hub (éducation, quiz, blog), Baho Profile (votre bio publique), Baho Chat (messagerie, groupes, chaînes, statuts), l'Auto-École Baho, et Baho Finance.
Informations que nous collectons
Compte et Inscription
Lors de votre inscription, nous collectons votre nom complet, votre adresse e-mail (utilisée comme identifiant Baho unique), votre numéro de téléphone, et les sections de Baho qui vous intéressent. Si vous vous inscrivez à l'Auto-École, nous collectons également votre catégorie de permis, votre rôle (élève ou moniteur), et votre localisation (province, district, secteur).
Profil et Bio
Si vous créez un Profil Baho, nous conservons uniquement ce que vous choisissez d'ajouter : votre nom d'affichage, photo, biographie, liens de réseaux sociaux, blocs de contenu (liens, texte, images, vidéos), préférences de thème, et — si vous proposez un service — votre catégorie, tarif, disponibilité et localisation. Vous contrôlez ce qui est affiché publiquement via les paramètres de votre profil.
Baho Chat et Communauté
Si vous utilisez Baho Chat, nous conservons vos messages en conversations directes, publications et commentaires de groupe, activité des chaînes, et vos statuts (texte, image ou vidéo), automatiquement supprimés après 24 heures. Nous enregistrons aussi des horodatages d'activité générale pour que les autres membres voient votre dernière activité — jamais votre localisation exacte.
Contacts Téléphoniques (Facultatif)
Si vous utilisez « Synchroniser les contacts » dans Baho Chat, nous accédons aux contacts de votre appareil avec votre autorisation explicite, uniquement pour vérifier lesquels ont déjà un compte Baho. Nous ne conservons pas votre liste complète de contacts — seules les correspondances vous sont montrées.
Utilisation et Technique
Nous utilisons le stockage local de votre navigateur pour mémoriser votre session et vos préférences de langue. Nous n'exploitons pas actuellement d'analyses de visiteurs ni de suivi de localisation. Si cela change, nous mettrons à jour cette page.
Comment nous utilisons vos informations
- Pour créer et gérer votre compte, et vérifier votre éligibilité à Health Hub ou l'Auto-École
- Pour afficher votre profil public, votre bio et vos services aux autres utilisateurs
- Pour faire fonctionner les fonctionnalités communautaires : messagerie, groupes, chaînes, statuts, publications, commentaires, follows
- Pour vous permettre de vous connecter avec d'autres membres et contacter les admins
- Pour communiquer avec vous sur votre compte, approbations et codes d'accès
- Pour modérer le contenu et appliquer nos règles communautaires
- Pour respecter nos obligations légales en vertu du droit rwandais
Modération Communautaire
Baho Chat est un espace communautaire partagé. Veuillez noter que :
- Les messages envoyés dans un groupe sont visibles par tous les membres de ce groupe. Les admins peuvent supprimer les messages qui violent les règles.
- Les commentaires sur les publications d'une chaîne sont visibles par ses abonnés. Les admins de la chaîne peuvent supprimer des commentaires.
- Les admins de groupes et de chaînes peuvent retirer ou restreindre (« bannir ») un membre qui viole les règles, l'empêchant de rejoindre ce groupe ou cette chaîne.
- Les profils bio non encore liés à un compte Baho vérifié sont marqués Brouillon ou Non vérifié afin que les autres sachent que le contenu n'a pas été confirmé.
Sécurité des données
Nous appliquons des mesures techniques et organisationnelles raisonnables pour protéger vos informations, notamment des connexions chiffrées (HTTPS) et des règles de contrôle d'accès Firebase. Cependant, aucune plateforme en ligne ne peut garantir une sécurité absolue. Gardez votre code d'accès confidentiel et signalez toute activité suspecte.
Conservation des données
Nous conservons les informations de votre compte tant qu'il est actif. Les périodes d'accès approuvées à Health Hub et à l'Auto-École sont valables pour une durée déterminée (actuellement 90 jours) et sont renouvelées par un administrateur. Si vous demandez la suppression de votre compte, nous supprimerons vos données personnelles dans un délai raisonnable, sauf obligation légale contraire.
Vos droits et choix
Vous avez le droit de :
- Accéder, corriger ou mettre à jour vos informations à tout moment
- Choisir quelles parties de votre bio (téléphone, e-mail, tags, adresse) sont publiques
- Quitter un groupe, ne plus suivre une chaîne, ou arrêter de suivre/d'être suivi
- Demander une copie de vos données ou la suppression de votre compte
- Vous opposer à notre traitement de vos informations

Baho est destiné aux adultes, étudiants et membres du public capables de créer un compte. Nous ne collectons pas sciemment d'informations auprès d'enfants. Si vous pensez qu'un enfant nous a fourni des informations personnelles, contactez-nous pour les supprimer.
